Colgate Bookstore has designated a 1,000-square-foot space overlooking downtown Hamilton for use as an event room and has a staff position specifically geared toward program coordination. Since opening, the bookstore has hosted more than 350 community events. They include book signings by five nationally known authors; DVD signings by acclaimed actors and directors in conjunction with the local movie house; local author book signings featuring more than 50 authors; musical performances by local singers and songwriters; weekly toddler, youth, and teen reading programs; writers’ conferences; and art exhibits. All programs are free and open to the public.

To date, Colgate Bookstore has played host to Andy Rooney, Jesse Jackson, Chris Hedges, Tim O'Brien and many others.
