Children's Book Week - May 11th through 15th
Colgate Bookstore is hosting a week-long series of children’s and young adult events as part of Children’s Book Week (May 11-15).
All events are free (although some require advance sign-up). All will be held in the Class of 2003 Events Room on the Bookstore's 3rd Floor, unless otherwise noted.
During the week of May 11-16, the Bookstore will also offer a 20% discount on all children’s titles throughout the store.
Children’s Book Week has been celebrated nationally in schools, libraries, and bookstores since 1919 and is sponsored by the Children’s Book Council.
Monday, May 11th @ 3:30 p.m. - Fancy Nancy Outdoor Party
Hamilton Village Green
Ages 3 to 8
Put on your fanciest outdoor clothes, and join us on the Village Green for an outdoor party to celebrate the new picture book Fancy Nancy Explorer Extraordinaire by Jane O'Connor. We'll have a stylish scavenger hunt, learn some elegant French words for animals and flowers, make a petite pinecone bird-feeder, get butterfly tattoos, and sample some extra-fancy treats.
The sign-up period for this event has passed, but your child may still be able to participate. Come to the Village Green at 3:30 p.m. and if there are extra spaces available, we will admit children on a first-come, first-served basis. 
Tuesday, May 12th @ 3:30 p.m. -- Folk Song Sing-Along
All ages welcome
Sing-along leader Jenni Larchar will lead the singing of selected songs from the Peter Yarrow Songbooks: Favorite Folk Songs and Sleepytime Songs.
Wednesday, May 13th @ 3:30 p.m. -- Live Reptiles! 
Ages 4 to 9
Gators, and turtles, and snakes... oh my! Join us for a visit from the Utica Zoomobile, hear silly stories, and learn cool facts about alligators, snakes, turtles, and lizards. This is your chance to get up close and eye-to-eye with real, live reptiles.
Thursday, May 14th @ 10 a.m. -- Balloons!
Celebrate Children’s Book Week with a balloon-filled morning. There will be stories, balloon games, and a free helium balloon for each child to take home.
Thursday, May 14th @ 4 p.m. -- Life After Twilight: The Best Paranormal Teen Fiction
Ages 14 and up (under 14 must be accompanied by an adult, no exceptions.)
Join us for a panel discussion on the best teen books featuring vampires, werewolves, zombies, faeries, and others in the paranormal genre. Refreshments will be provided, and free books will be awarded as prizes.
