Banned Book Readout

Monday, September 28
Start Time: 7:00 PM

At the Hamilton Public Library's Community Room.  Celebrate your freedom to read!  Join us for a reading of banned books with members of the local communities, Colgate, and the MidYork Library System.  Discussion to follow.  Sponsored by the Hamilton Public Library, and the Colgate Bookstore.

Over the past eight years, American libraries were faced with 3,736 challenges to the books in their collections.  Celebrating the freedom to read, Banned Book Week is observed during the last week of September each year.  Observed since 1982, this annual American Library Association event reminds Americans not to take this precious democratic freedom for granted.

Karen Fauls-Traynor, Library Director of the Sullivan Free Library in Chittenango and the Bridgeport Library, will be opening the program with an overview of Banned Books Week.
