Do I need my own computer at Colgate?

This is the most common question that people ask. Though there are more than 700 personal computers available to students through “Computer Labs” on campus, most students purchase their own—not because it is required, but because it is convenient. Students indicate that it is more efficient for them to manage their documents on a personal computer. Students also like to customize their systems, and often prefer to run a wide variety of programs, some of which are not available in the Colgate Computer Labs.
