Warranty & Service Information
Lenovo Computer bundles sold by the Colgate Bookstore include a warranty plan already in the package. For the Lenovo ThinkPad T520, there is a 3 Year Parts and Labor Warranty and for the inexpensive Lenovo ThinkPad SL410, there is a 1 Year Parts and Labor Warranty. Accidental damage (liquid spills, falls, etc.) are not supported by Lenovo or by the Bookstore.
Apple Computer bundles are covered for one year by Apple at no additional charge. The Bookstore offers in-store personal support and labor for that year as well. For an additional charge, your computer can be covered by Apple’s 3 Year AppleCare warranty Please note: The AppleCare warranty covers parts and labor for manufacturer defects only. Accidental damage is not covered or supported by Apple or by the Bookstore.
All stated Service Agreements include complimentary in-store personal support and labor. Our technician is available to answer questions via phone or e-mail, to order needed parts and accessories, to provide a loaner laptop while yours is being repaired, to assist in the transfer of data to your new computer, to remove viruses or spyware, and to perform many other routine maintenance tasks.
Limitations:
- The Bookstore-provided support is limited to the Hamilton area. Students who leave Colgate’s campus forfeit the benefits of this program (including loaner laptops); however the manufacturer's warranties and Protection Plans are unaffected.
- Some charges will apply for replacement parts which are out of warranty or parts and labor in the case of accidental damage to computers not covered by the Lenovo Parts and Labor Warranty.
- Lost or stolen computers sold through the Colgate Bookstore are not covered under the stated Warranties or Protection Plans.
- The Colgate Bookstore is not responsible for any data loss on computers under warranty or otherwise. Bookstore technicians will make reasonable efforts to recover any important data, but no guarantees can be made. Therefore it is highly recommended that all students make frequent external backups in case an unforeseen problem does occur.
- Printers, iPods & accessories (including batteries bundled with laptops) sold through the Bookstore are covered by a 1 year warranty or as stated by manufacturer. Warranty support for printers, iPods and accessories is to be handled directly through manufacturer.
- Non-Warranty and outside service repairs would incur actual repair costs (parts & labor).
